Description

The process of die-cutting is similar to cookies making by the cookies cutter. The material is placed under the cutting area of the machine to cut the desired shape. Steel die cut is the commonly used tooling for die-cutting rubber. They are precisely sharp and are built to meet the high standard of production requirements.

There are ways to check whether the die-cutting is your optimal solution. The first one is the thickness of the Die-cut rubber. When the thickness exceeds 5mm, a  concave shape (waist shrink) will happen. When the thickness of the cutting part is less than 5mm could be suitable for the Die-cut process. This concave shape may or may not affect the overall function of the part. To set up a tight tolerance is necessary. The other factor to consider is the construction. If the structure is composed of squared (90 degrees) angles, then the Die-cut process can be the answer. If it has a radius(R angle) on the edge, then the molding procedure would be the alternative option to the die-cutting process.

  • Open Cell Sponge: Open cell sponge – commonly seen on the underside of mousepads – has great resistance to compression set and is a star when it comes to anti-skid applications.
