Shin-Etsu announces silicone products price increase

Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd. (TYO:4063) is set to raise prices again for all of its silicone products. The impact areas are Japan and all of the dealers globally.
The price increase of silicone products was announced once in March of 2021 due to the increase in the price of silicon metal and other related raw materials and the supply shortage caused by strong growth in China's demand. The global supply and demand were tightened.

However, the previous raw material prices continue to rise sharply, and the prices of methanol and catalyst raw materials such as platinum have also increased. Coupled with the recent increase in logistics costs caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, Shin-Etsu's silicon collagen material procurement and product transportation costs have risen sharply. Various factors have contributed to another wave of increases.

Most prices will increase by 10-20% for all products. Some even more for more than 20%. The new prices will apply to products shipping from October 2021 onward
